Reports To: Senior Staff Accountant Location: Remote

FLSA Status: Exempt (FT) Salary: DOE

Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for processing day-to-day accounting transactions with common accounts payable clerk services. We seek someone outgoing, with the ability to multitask, listen to and follow instructions, be highly organized, have strong written and oral communication skills, excellent time management skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Attention to detail and punctuality are imperative. The A.P. Clerk position is full-time, remote, year-round position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • G/L transaction processing not limited to: A/P, accruals, payroll reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Review, analyze, and enter into the system, vendor invoices and expenses to ensure proper coding and cost center classification
  • Research various bank clearings, seek out support for bank clearings, and enter into the system the outcome of the support
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual G.L. closing process
  • Collaborate, support, and obtain authorization from various business units and departments regarding A/P subcontractor contractor invoices.
  • Maintain effective written and verbal communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues
  • Prepare neat, well-formatted work papers and maintain electronic files
  • All other duties and tasks, and special projects as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates in Accounting, Business, or related studies preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in finance and accounting in a U.S. Federal Government contracting environment with consistent performance at or above the satisfactory level
  • Experience in G.L., A.P., Payroll account reconciliations, and monthly close.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of GAAP and FAR
  • Must be proficient in Costpoint, Time & Expense, Reports, and Journal Entries
  • Must be proficient in using M.S. Office products, especially Excel
  • Must possess excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Must be proactive and take initiative to research and resolve issues
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in problem-solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, meetings, and deadlines
  • Ability to thrive and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to follow instructions quickly and transfer knowledge from one project to another
