We are looking for a full time Financial Counselor to join our amazing Business Office Team in Vancouver, WA. The Financial Counselor supports the billing and collection process for Rebound to ensure maximum reimbursement and is responsible for providing financial counseling to patients throughout various phases of their treatment cycle by counseling on financial options regarding patient balances.
Responsibilities:
- Support an environment that reinforces Rebound’s mission and Core Values of Superior Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, Quality and Recognition.
- Respond to patient inquires according to state and Federal laws or applicable internal policies.
- Prepare various surgery or procedure estimates for patients and collect deposits.
- Review financial history to billing cycle start and collect patient responsibility portion of payment.
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, deductibles and co-payments.
- Screen all self pay accounts, as well as high deductible/co-insurance accounts for internal financial payment options.
- Screen and assist the uninsured and underinsured in obtaining public benefits or other financial sponsorship.
- Maximize reimbursement through effective collection practices.
- Ensure proper billing procedures and privacy guidelines are implemented and carried out.
- Communicate possible problems with departmental supervisor.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent required. College level accounting or business courses preferred. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for patient service experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Minimum of two years experience in a healthcare related field, physician’s office, hospital or clinic. Experience in the field of collections, customer service, and billing preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance billing procedures, collection laws, and medical terminology preferred.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work both independently and interdependently with staff and team members with limited supervision.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient use of computers including MS Office applications.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of the principles of service excellence and be able to maintain a professional demeanor and customer service orientation under busy and difficult situations.
