Job Summary:


The Animal Intake Assistant Manager at SPCA Tampa Bay will oversee the intake department in our open-admission shelter. This role involves managing the intake process for strays, owner surrenders, and humane euthanasia requests, while providing guidance and support to staff and the public.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Counsel and manage the intake process for strays, surrenders, and euthanasia requests.
  • Advise pet owners on alternatives to relinquishment when possible.
  • Collect and document detailed animal histories, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with the veterinary services department for animal care decisions.
  • Provide initial medical care, including vaccinations and preventive treatments.
  • Schedule and supervise intake staff.
  • Offer exceptional customer service and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure a clean, safe work environment and participate in meetings and trainings.
  • Represent SPCA Tampa Bay professionally.
Qualifications:


  • 3-5 years of general work experience; 1 year of staff supervision preferred.
  • Valid Florida drivers license.
  • Strong customer service skills, critical thinking, and discretion.
  • Experience with humane animal care and handling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Pet Point.
  • Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Certified euthanasia Technician preferred.
Physical Demands:


  • Handle animals of various sizes and breeds.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to animal waste, high noise levels, and physical exertion.
Additional Requirements:


  • Flexible hours and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass background checks.
