The Tampa Office of Stearns Weaver Miller is seeking an attorney with 4-8 years of experience to join our statewide Land Development, Zoning & Environmental Practice Group consisting of more than 20 attorneys, five planners, two real estate analysts, two geographic information system (GIS) analysts and a Director of Government . The attorney will be working on a broad array of matters statewide in the areas of land development, land use, and zoning law.

We are seeking a positive, motivated and collaborative attorney with strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, who is eager to join a highly collaborative team. Candidate must have outstanding writing, analytical and communication skills along with strong client service values. Core responsibilities will include the following:

  • Handle the preparation of land use entitlement applications;
  • Coordinate third party consultants and experts involved in larger land use projects;
  • Represent clients in local government entitlement hearings
  • Experience in working with and navigating through Florida local governments and Florida state agencies
  • Perform land use and zoning due diligence for clients (including property owners, developers and lenders involved in real estate transactions);
  • Conduct and supervise legal research projects; and
  • Monitor and report on current local government affairs affecting the practice group’s clients.

To be considered, a candidate must hold a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school, must be in good standing and an active member of the Florida Bar, and must have prior experience in the field. The preferred candidate may also show non-legal experience relevant to the practice group. For instance, a candidate may have a background or have practiced in planning, engineering, or local and state governments. The preferred candidate will be based in the Stearns Weaver Miller, P.A. Tampa Office.
