We have a client looking for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant and Financial Analyst to join their accounting team. Responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. This role combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. 


This is a new position that will join a team of six finance and accounting members to support a family of companies and all their divisions.  The ideal candidate would have their CPA and have worked in public accounting for at least 3 years.  Need someone who is very well versed in excel, data mining and analysis, strong GAAP accounting understanding, forecasting, building financial models, etc.  The ideal candidate also has experience collaborating and working with a team.


The pay would be dependent on the individual's experience/skills.


Accounting duties may include:

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts for various company divisions
  • Produce error-free accounting reports
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks
  • Learn other team member’s duties and be back up support for payroll and other roles as needed

Financial Analyst duties may include:

  • Analyze current and past financial data and performance
  • Prepare reports and projections based on analysis
  • Explore investment opportunities
  • Assess different costs of the business and how they impact operations, costs, efficiency and profits
  • Collect, analyze and report on cost accounting data. This includes preparing standard cost reports, monitoring inventory levels, cost comparisons, product costing analysis, tracking variances and making journal entries
  • Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Provide financial models and forecasting
  • Organize data into accessible reports and perform various types of analysis using key metrics such as yearly growth, return on assets, return on equity and earnings per share
  • Assist with financial functions, such as assessing, auditing, planning, budgeting, cost control and project control
  • Evaluate and analyze capital expenditures, depreciation, proposals, investment opportunities, rate of return, profit plans, operating records, financial statements, etc.
  • Study a company’s financial data to give advice for guiding business investments and overall financial strategy


Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven experience in accounting field
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Awareness of business trends
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • BS degree in Accounting
  • Certification of CPA
  • 3+ years in public accounting firm preferred
