Job Summary:   

The Education, Career, and Enrichment department at CASES specializes in serving youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system. The Education and Career Services team at CASES is looking for a Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Project-Based Learning (PBL) Facilitator. CASES provides younger youth, ages 14 and 15, with an opportunity to have a 6-week' paid work experience during the summer. The PBL Facilitator and the SYEP Worksite Monitor will support this work from June through August. This position will require a 20-hour weekly commitment to be executed remotely and in person. CASES will provide an agency cell phone and laptop for the duration of employment. Due to the nature of SYEP, a PBL Facilitator must commit to working a total of 20 hours per week from June through August.


Salary: The hourly salary for this position is $23.00 an hour.

Shift Hours: The SYEP PBL Facilitator position is full time Monday through Friday.

 

Location Address: 4 West 125th Street New York, NY 10027.

 

Workplace Flexibility: CASES offers various work arrangements, where possible for certain roles. The SYEP PBL Facilitator position is remote.


What you will be doing:
  • Assist with Managing all incoming applications and supporting documentation for 14–15-year-old applicants.
  • Work with supervisor to develop PBL activities for youth for the duration of the summer.
  • Provide prompt communication with stakeholders including parents, referral partners, and participants.
  • Track and manage SYEP’s Orientation through Hats and Ladders curriculum to youth applicants.
  • Ensure proper program enrollment and PBL placement for youth.
  • Facilitate designed project-based learning activity via zoom and using other virtual tools.
  • Support Program Supervisor with the maintenance of timesheet collection, weekly assessments, and troubleshooting of any workplace issues.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, including referral partners, parents, and participants

What we are looking for:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to engage youth in the virtual platform and maintain engagement throughout programming.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel; and fluent in the use of Google Docs, Zoom and other virtual platforms Experience working with youth and families.
  • Ability to apply youth development principles and commitment to work from a strength-based prospect.

  Preferred Skills:  

  • Experience with SYEP is strongly preferred.
