PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR – POWDER COATINGS
(1st Shift)
The Production Supervisor directs the daily activities of all production team members and assists in production tasks as required to efficiently produce high quality products.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assign and perform daily manufacturing tasks necessary to complete the daily production schedule.
- Provide leadership on the production floor in order to maximize machine uptime and control production processes.
- Review work conducted by departmental personnel to ensure quality/safety/performance standards are met.
- Oversee and implement all inputs and transactions accurately in the Business Operating System.
- Work with maintenance team for scheduling of equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
- Communicate shift reports and production summaries accurately via email.
- Apply knowledge of paint manufacturing process to resolve unforeseen issues that arise.
- Ensure conformance of department personnel to company policies.
- Train new operators in department operations and conduct training for current operators to facilitate continued growth.
- As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste.
- Responsible for adherence to safety rules by all direct reports, promoting safe work practices, coaching and any necessary safety training required in addition to that provided by the corporate safety trainer. Also, is responsible for stopping and reporting any safety violations when observed throughout the facility.
- Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
- Interview, hire and terminate employees, as necessary.
- Conduct performance reviews on a semi-annual basis.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred education level: Associate’s or two-year college degree or equivalent.
- Preferred experience level: Two or more years’ experience in paint or coatings manufacturing including batch making, milling, shading, quality control and filling.
- Prior supervisory experience helpful, but not required.
- Forklift certification strongly preferred.
- Exemplify core values, i.e., Integrity, Loyalty, Passion, Commitment, and Respect.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Excellent team building and communications skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, stand and/or walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects or controls and move from place to place. The employee is regularly required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulders. The employee occasionally must use foot/feet to operate machinery, climb or balance and reach above the shoulders. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. and occasionally up to 100lbs.
Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
