POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the VP- Strategic Relationships, the Program Director- Teen Leadership

will implement high quality YMCA Y-Achievers Program, expansion of Youth in Government and support for various youth programming. Provides direct leadership, supervision, instruction and motivation for advisors, teachers, volunteers and

participants in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes safety and engagement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of program participants as well as alignment with the association’s goals for teen programming. This includes direct service to program participants per established program models.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  3. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  4. Compiles program statistics that can be used for grant reporting. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  5. Lead efforts in grant writing for Teen leadership programming as needed and assigned.
  6. Implement and evaluate curriculum for participants in developing social and life skills through positive role modeling and learning activities
  7. Participates in a successful annual support campaign. Active leadership required in staff giving and membership involvement.
  8. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations, partners, and stakeholders.
  9. Organizes, oversees & evaluates program activities and events for Summer Learning Loss Prevention (YCAP). Form collaborative efforts with parents, mentors, and volunteers.

  11. Attend scheduled staff meetings and one on ones with the supervisor.
  12. Participate in planning and implementation of special events such as Career Clusters and College visits as needed.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Division of Duties

  • 50% Management and direct supervision of Y Achievers
  • 20% Expansion of Youth in Government program
  • 15% Management of SLLP program in the summer
  • 10% leadership to Annual Giving and Grant writing
  • 5% 901 Student Passport Partnership

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Two years or more years related experience preferred.

3. Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Lift 35 pounds using proper technique
  • Ability to travel to various site locations on a daily basis.
