Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Clinical Practice Liaison, Field Director will spend the majority of their time working closely with direct reports on the Clinical Practice Liaison Team (CPL) to ensure all direct reports fully understand their roles and how their work relates to the broader goals and objectives of the organization.  This leadership role will ensure their Team’s activities are fully compliant with Madrigal policies and procedures, field tactical plans are executed and key needs from the field are identified, escalated and addressed to optimize the performance and engagement of the NASH/MASH healthcare professional community by the CPL. 

The CPL Director will have regular and compliant interactions between internal stakeholders (marketing, sales leadership, market access, Medical Affairs, clinical operations) and external customers (healthcare professionals, practice managers, healthcare system decision makers and others).

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management and development of all direct reports
  • Responsible for development and execution of the field medical strategy and tactical plan for Southeast CPL Team and identified healthcare professionals
  • Establishment of objective measures to evaluate the clinical impact of the CPL Team
  • Collaborate with the Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Med Affairs Health Systems, commercial organization, clinical operations, and other stakeholders to support field educational needs
  • Responsible for CPL activities at US congresses including partnering with MSLs to ensure booth logistics, facilitating scientific communications, gathering competitive intelligence, and facilitating the development of pre- and post- conference scientific materials
  • Responsible for mapping company and clinical practices needs in the NASH/MASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis/ Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis) space
  • Identify key deliverables, insights, and metrics that highlight the value of the CPL organization
  • Remain current on scientific trends and therapeutics landscapes in metabolic associated steatotic liver disease/ non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (MASLD/NASH)
  • Remain aware, up to date and compliant with all Madrigal policies and procedures regarding engagement of internal stakeholders as well as external customers.
  • Actively contribute to the Extended Medical Affairs Leadership Team to continue to ensure that Madrigal Medical Affairs is providing the strategic partnership needed by our customers and our company.
  • Ensure field medical activities and scientific interactions are compliant with all legal, regulatory and Madrigal policies and procedures
  • Ability to travel as needed to support medical affairs needs including attendance at key congresses (travel is highly variable but can vary between 25% to 75%)
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Advanced scientific/healthcare degree (e.g., PA, FNP, DNP, MD/DO, PharmD, PhD, etc.) or life sciences degree and meaningful healthcare/clinical practice experience
  • 5+ years of relevant clinical practice / medical affairs experience, including at least 3 years of field medical experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or equivalent in Gastroenterology/ Hepatology related fields
  • Prior leadership/people management or experience or peer leadership as a coach, onboarding partner, trainer within clinical medicine, disease management or medical research in (MASH/NASH, liver disease, gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes/obesity) preferred
  • Excellent understanding of Gastroenterology/Hepatology clinical practice, Healthcare System and relevant research procedures as well as FDA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to understand and convey emergent scientific information
  • Strong understanding of US regulatory standards for field medical affairs activities in the US
  • Demonstrable multitasking, project management and execution skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, including communications, presentations and execution on task skills
  • Good organizational skills, including efficiency, punctuality and collaboration in a team environment
  • Proficiency with common software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) as well as virtual interaction software (e.g. Zoom) and CRM platforms (e.g. Veeva)
  • Within the Madrigal Competency framework, CPL Sr. Field Director will maintain proficiencies using internal reference standards as defined below:

Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
