Be Part of the Show at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts

The Video Production Assistant helps to produce television spots, radio spots, promotional videos, pre-recorded curtain speeches (video and/or audio), videos for use on social media, videos required for grant submissions and Development special events, public service announcements, Patel Conservatory showcase and Next Generation Ballet performance tapings and DVD recordings, archival and testimonial taping of Straz-produced shows and events, as well as other video needs as required.

Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers a team-based work environment that shows our dedication to the community every day. We reward our part time employees with discounts on food, shows and classes at the Patel Convservatory, plus a generous 403(b) plan.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in editing and shooting video projects for multipurpose use, as mentioned above.
  • Designs graphics and animations for video projects.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisor responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere editing software programs, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of television and film production.
  • Knowledge of assorted media file exportation and station trafficking.
  • Proficient in audio recording and editing.
  • Proficient with video editing and compositing.
  • Knowledge of teleprompter use, audio board, and wireless microphone set-up.
  • Knowledge of portable studio lighting.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work nights and weekends.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Some college with communication and/or Arts background preferred.
  • Prior experience in marketing, public relations, or customer service preferred.
