Job Summary/Objective:

The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and establish new accounts as needed.
  • Work with accounting staff to ensure proper revenue recognition guidance is followed for income accounts such as contributions, grants, and home sale revenue.
  • Conduct cost accounting for house builds and events. Prepare and analyze closing entries for construction in process.
  • Conduct the monthly close, generating financial statements, reviewing, analyzing, and ensuring overall accuracy, and working with other affiliate staff to gather required data timely.
  • Prepare monthly board report, including financial statements with budget-to-actual comparison.
  • Support the annual audit performed by independent external auditors by preparing requested schedules and providing documentation.
  • Perform monthly budget-to-actual analysis.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Complete other balance sheet account reconciliations monthly.
  • Assist and support Construction with bids, project budgets, job costing and budget-to-actual analysis per job.
  • Assist Mortgage Servicing with preparing escrow analysis, bank reporting, delinquency reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with annual operating budget and forecasting.
  • Assist CFO with updating and ensuring compliance with Internal Controls
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


Education, Experience and Attributes

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

· At least three years related experience required.


Physical Demands

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
