Position Overview:

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and maintenance of financial documentation to monitor the organization's assets, liabilities, income and expenses, tax obligations, and other financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts general cost accounting and other related functions for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Maintains and updates the general ledger.
  • Processes invoices, establishes new accounts, reconciles accounts, and finalizes monthly financial records.
  • Reconciles bank accounts on a monthly basis, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from financial institutions.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; oversees accounts receivable collections.
  • Ensures accurate payment of invoices related to accounts payable and verifies that payments are allocated to the correct accounts.
  • Assists external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for the annual audit.
  • Files tax documents with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Collaborates with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems; suggests updates to improve the software functionality.
  • Oversees the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Stays informed about acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting principles.
  • Understanding of and ability to comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Capability to accurately prepare tax documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, as well as accounting software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
