  1. Coordinate all controls engineering for the entire line.
    • Act as primary contact for all customers, both internal and external. Ensure all customer requirements are met in the control design process.
    • Coordinate customer specification sheets with Project Mangement.
    • Review final quote and specifications
    • Assist the Purchasing department with critical characteristics on purchased components
    • Participate in project planning meetings and ensure electrical documents are placed in the "electrical" binder per project.
    • Keep project checklist (EE015) current per project.
    • Ensure project is on schedule.
    • Complete software prior to in-plant start-up
    • File all project information under appropriate electrical project.
    • Enter and release BOM's in Encompix.
  2. Act as primary engineering consultant for the production employees during the wiring process.
    • Follow- up on production suggestions.
    • Ensure problem logs are reviewed according to the problem log procedure.
    • Ensure all suggested changes are properly reviewed
    • Ensure changes are completed and properly routed.
    • Assist assembly department in decisions on the line set-up and component locations.
    • Make decisions on the location of terminal boxes, sensors, and operator stations.
  3. Participate in Review Meetings
    • Provide electrical information in Design Review meetings.
  4. Perform in-plant start-up.
    • Document start-up problems on log per project (PM005)
    • Ensure line check-out sheets are completed and signed.
    • Perform 20-hour run (EE016).
    • Accompany customers during check out and inspection in AFCo plant.
    • Assist in correcting customer punch list items.
  5. Customer Plant start-up.
    • Perform customer plant startup through FAT
    • Make final settings and calibrations and record in appropriate electrical project.
    • Finalize control software functions
    • Document start-up on daily logs
    • Complete CPS checkout sheets.
  6. Finalize documentation after project completion.
    • Update drawings as needed due to corrective actions or customer changes
    • Provide customers with final electrical prints, final PLC & HMI software backup disks as needed per project.
    • Review job costing summary
  7. Perform administrative duties, if required
  8. Perform Technical Writer duties, if required

Qualifications:

  1. Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer sciences related fields.
  2. Must have a working knowledge of, or be trained in "Reliability and Maintainability", including FMEA's.
  3. Travel for startups, engineering meetings and service/warranty as needed.
  4. Participate on the 24-hour service team.
  5. Programming experience on Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC-5, Siemens, or Mitsubishi.
  6. Variable frequency drives experience, such as AB Powerflex Series.
  7. HMI programming on various platforms.
  8. Networks such as Ethernet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, or another industrial network knowledge.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to work in plant environments (long hours on feet, heat, cold). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
