Job Description:

Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components on press room equipment, such as main junction and terminal boxes, and operator console panel, according to specifications, using hand tools, and equipment: Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine established assembly methods. Panel building. Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters. Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections. Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device. Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, using soldering gun and hand tools. Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and solenoids, and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools. Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments. May need to operate cranes or forklifts.


Essential Functions:

  1. Retrieve documents and materials needed for project and return documents upon completion of project
  2. Properly wire each component in a line.
  3. Run cables from machines through conduit / cable tray back to electrical panels.
  4. Build up wire harness for line.
  5. Tag wires and equipment.
  6. Layout, bend conduit.
  7. Drill and tap for mounting Unistrut and electrical switches.
  8. Assist electrical project engineers in starting and testing equipment
  9. Properly tear down and disconnect equipment for shipping
  10. Determine appropriate pictures to reference, obtain picture, and return when referencing is complete.
  11. Record problems found during line build.
  12. Communicate nonconforming product to the Assembly Department Team Manager.
  13. Complete wiring of control panels and transformers.
  14. Attend monthly assembly department meetings.

Job Requirements:

  1. 2-3 years' experience as electrician / electrical assembly.
  2. Must be able to read electrical schematics.
  3. Must be able to use and read the general tools and equipment of the electrical trade.

Work Environment:

Normal plant environment. Contact with dirty and oily surfaces is likely. Long periods of standing on concrete floors is the norm. May be required to work in extreme temperatures: high heat and humidity in summers and cold temperatures when working on customer plant startups. Noise levels in plant normally are low; but high noise levels can be expected when working in customer stamping plants, or at our plant when grinding, drilling, and hammering, etc. Safety glasses and steel toe shoes are required. Hearing protection, hard hats may be required at customer plant.
