The CHS Revenue Cycle Trainer works as an integral part of the Revenue Cycle team. Responsible for the training of all new Revenue Cycle staff. Will assist manager which develops, implements, instructs, and evaluates education and training programs related to revenue cycle. This position collaborates with all departments to ensure training needs are met as well provides feedback to the manager on the development of revenue cycle quality metrics and quality review process. This individual will foster and drive a culture of patient centered care, quality outcomes, and service excellence in a fast growing environment through the planning, development, and implementation of key training programs and initiatives.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all activities related to training, curriculum design and development, training media/formats, testing and proficiency standards and requirements, creative delivery strategies, and reporting in conjunction with the training and quality manager.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle teams to identify key training opportunities. Leverage data and information gathered from quality monitoring, calibration calls, observations, etc. to identify training gaps and strategically develop learning curriculum.
  • Track progress of training programs and continuously adapt and update the content and cadence as needed, within a dynamic and fast-paced environment in conjunction with the training and quality manager.
  • Ensure effective education on content knowledge, key operational workflows, quality metric expectations and customer service for both newly on-boarded and existing team members in conjunction with the training and quality manager.
  • Ensures the application of relevant learning theories and the use of appropriate channels (e.g., online, instructor led, resource guides, and job aides) to the design, development and delivery of educational material and training classes in conjunction with the training and quality manager.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of revenue cycle experience required.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree with 5 years of revenue cycle experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years hospital revenue cycle experience
  • Knowledge of the managed care industry including payer structures, administrative rules, and government payers.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle including, patient access, insurance billing, payer reimbursement, cash posting, collections, denials

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient understanding of medical coding systems effecting the adjudication of claims payment. These include ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, APG, APC, and revenue code structures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting up to 20 pounds, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, as well as repetitive use of hands and fingers

Location and Travel Requirements:

  • Fully remote, but may have opportunities for onsite in Ithaca NY*

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • $27.88 to $32.69 per hour
