Grower owned company built from two families' stories filled with pride and hard work that continues to grow in its reach of customers locally and around the globe. You will be joining the team that grows, processes, markets, and sells the finest cherry products and other premium dried fruits available anywhere in the world.

We have an open position in our accounting department for an Accounting Assistant - who will provide AP/AR accounting support functions at our corporate headquarters in Traverse City, our production facilities in Williamsburg and Empire, and our warehouse and trucking facility in Cadillac.

You are exceptionally organized, eager to learn, and collaborative. Your attention to details and accuracy is intense, but you thrive in a fun, laid back atmosphere. You are a self-starter that can get things done on your own, but also enjoy and function well working collectively within the team.

Primary Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Accounts Payable Process: Review, code, and enter all payables into ERP/accounting systems.
  • Work with departments to ensure invoices are accurate and approved for payment.
  • Enter receipt invoice items into ERP/accounting system and review against open purchase orders.
  • Contact staff or vendors on invoice questions/discrepancies.
  • Maintain required vendor documentation.
  • Maintain sales tax and fixed asset logs.

Accounts Receivable

  • Accounts Receivable Process: Review, update, and upload sales orders in the ERP/accounting system and customer portals.
  • Enter daily cash and credit card deposits.
  • Enter credit memos, debit memos, and deductions.
  • Initiate collection emails, update customer notes, and update customer credit information.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the Controller and CFO

Physical Requirements

  • This is primarily a sedentary job other than possible walking tours of facilities.
  • May be requested to lift materials of up to 35 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include reading computer screen and written documents; close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Communicate effectively via verbal, audible, and written means.

What you will bring with you:

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or related field plus 2 years of experience with an understanding of accounting principles
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe and willing to learn SAGE 100 accounting skills.
  • Exceptionally organized.
  • Good communication skills.
