Behavior Support Specialist


Lakeshore Community Services, Inc. is a well-established non-profit organization serving the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities and mental health-related issues. Headquartered in Erie, PA Lakeshore is seeking a full time Behavior Support Specialist who will have primary responsibility to provide behavioral supports to individuals presented with challenging behaviors and/or mental health concerns throughout our programs in Northwest Pennsylvania. This includes thorough assessment, plan development and plan monitoring. The Behavior Support Specialist also assists in supporting and training the treatment team and Direct Support Professionals (DSP) who support those individuals.


This position will report to the Vice President of ID Services. We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual with a track record of positive results within the behavior supports arena. This self-driven, motivated person must possess attention to detail, strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. A strong work ethic, commitment to success and the ability to prioritize are critical. The ideal candidate must possess: 1) A Master's Degree or higher in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis or Gerontology OR 2) A Pennsylvania Behavior Specialist License. Salary commensurate with experience.



Specific areas of experience and/or skills required for success in this position include:

  • Familiarity with ODP, DPW requirements
  • Experience with persons with ID and Autism
  • Experience with motivational assessment tools
  • Ability to make appropriate behavioral support recommendations and plans utilization the MAS
  • Familiarity with Outlook and the efficiency the software provides.
  • Technology Skills & Experience with Sharepoint/365(preferred);
  • Familiarity with Excel and the efficiency the software provides.
  • Motivated Self Starter with a Professional Demeanor;
  • Excellent Verbal & Written Communication Skills;
  • Demonstrated Computer Literacy;
  • Sense of Urgency, Well Organized and Ability to Prioritize and Accommodating

In addition, excellent time management skills and the ability to function as part of a "team" are required traits. Someone with experience in a similar environment and who has served in a similar capacity would find this career opportunity to be fulfilling and challenging.
