Job title: Wall Designer II

Pay: Starting at $29-$34 an hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm

Location: Tigard, Oregon

Opti-Frame by PARR Lumber offers off-site pre-cut, labeled, and delivered wall framing packages. These packages are based upon the blueprints and specifications provided by the customer and strictly adhere to all industry standards and municipal codes. The Wall Designer II position is essential to making sure our Opti-Frame design process happens with quality, efficiency, and service. This role provides a critical link between sales, production, and the customer.

The Wall Designer II reports directly to the Opti-Frame Manager and works closely with the following: Regional Opti-Frame Managers, Scheduling Coordinators, other Wall designers, Truss designers, sales teams, and the customer.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MiTek Sapphire
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English required
  • 5 years' experience framing residential construction
  • 3 years' experience designing Truss, EWP Floors, or Walls
  • Knowledge of dimension lumber, panel products, and other building materials
  • Knowledge of structural framing and construction design principles, practices, and protocols
  • Ability to expertly read, comprehend, and interpret blueprints and communicate that knowledge to fellow team members and customers
  • Effectively communicate Opti-Frame designs and layout details with all involved parties of the supply chain
  • Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and any other equipment necessary for the job
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong focus, planning, organizational and time management skills

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist sales teams, other designers, and customers with technical and assembly questions
  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize MiTek Sapphire and other applicable design programs
  • Read and interpret blueprints provided by the customer
  • Answer internal and external questions surrounding blueprints, plan details, Opti-Frame design/layouts, along with material estimates and orders
  • Develop and maintain a professional and effective relationship with customers and fellow team members
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building materials and construction codes by sharing product information with customers and co-workers
  • Communicate issues and concerns with a sense of urgency
  • Meet deadlines for completion of work
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

This position works in an office environment at a desk with a computer. Hybrid remote work is a possibility, at management's discretion. Overtime and/or Saturday work is a possibility if volume dictates.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in an office environment
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle when necessary
  • Both local and overnight travel may be required
  • Ability to utilize all appropriate safety equipment
