This role is at our Corona, CA facility.

WHAT WE NEED

BRF’s EHS Specialist is responsible for assisting the plant production teams with administering BRF’s environmental and safety programs, assisting with the development and implementation of environmental and safety procedural requirements, and conducting or deploying environmental health and safety required training. The EHS Specialist will provide support to employees regarding environmental and safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. The EHS Specialist is the first point of contact for incident investigations and participating in root cause analysis.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Collecting and maintaining regulatory data and preparing environmental reports for external agencies such as USEPA, CalEPA (CARB, DTSC, OEHHA, SWRCB), City of Corona, etc.
  • Support the site as the emergency coordinator and liaison with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of employee monthly safety and environmental training topics.
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of environmental health and safety training to all employees across all functions.
  • Conduct routine facility-wide inspections to support regulatory mandated programs and assist in identifying unsafe working conditions (i.e., eyewash/safety shower, emergency lighting, emergency exits, chemical storage incompatibilities, etc.).
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, who support the site’s EHS programs (i.e. fire extinguisher inspections, safety supply Vendor Managed Inventory, state certified lab sample collection, etc.)
  • Assist in incident investigations, conducting root cause analysis, and identifying corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development of EHS program, procedural, and training needs.
  • Represent the EHS department during new-employee orientations and deliver original, basic environmental and safety training to those new employees.
  • Review and enhance reporting capability utilizing incident reporting software.
  • Maintain proper levels of PPE and safety related equipment at the site.
  • Maintain employee suggestion box and the tracking spreadsheet of employee safety contributions.
  • Perform risk assessments (Job Safety Analysis).
  • Assist in the development of safety and environmental inspection processes and administer across the Corona plant.
  • Ensure contractors are properly trained in the BRF’s safety policies and procedures before they begin any on-site projects.
  • Act as the site’s safety committee leader and implement Corporate EHS initiatives throughout the site level of the organization.
  • Ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with all existing federal, state, and local EHS regulations and company policies and procedures, including but not limited to CalOSHA, CalEPA, Caltrans, USEPA, USDOT, and NFPA.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Applied Sciences or related accredited degree program.
  • One (1) plus years of experience in an EHS field, operating within a manufacturing environment, including experience working with state-specific regulatory agencies.

At BRF, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $75,000 and $85,000. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
