DESCRIPTION

The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Police Department as an

Accounting Grant Specialist .

The Corona Police Department is made up of over 250 officers and professional staff which is comprised of three divisions: Field Services, Investigative Services, and Support Services. Our mission is to ensure the safety and security of our community while maintaining trust through transparency.

The Accounting Grant Specialist u nder general supervision, prepares and administers technical accounting and budgeting records, projections, and reports.

Furthermore, this position coordinates, facilitates and participates in the development and administration of major and complex capital operating budgets, grant budgets and related fund accounts for the Police Department.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge & Education

Graduation from 12th grade, or G.E.D. equivalent . Knowledge of

practices and procedures of governmental budgeting and accounting. Familiar with

procedures and practices governing financial transactions. Skills & Abilities

Operate a computer, calculating machine and other standard office equipment. Verify the accuracy of financial data and information. Analyze, balance and reconcile financial data and accounts. Project revenues and expenditures. Prepare complex accounting schedules and execute fund transactions. Organize work, set priorities and exercise independent judgment within established guidelines. interpret, apply and reach sound decisions in accordance with rules, regulations and department procedures. Make calculations and tabulations and review fiscal and related documents accurately and rapidly. Clear and accurate financial records and reports. Experience Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing financial analysis, reporting and records keeping duties. Candidates that possess prior grant experience are highly desirable. Characteristics

Candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in an in-person oral interview.

The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list and will be contacted by the department to start the background process as vacancies arise.

Successful candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation and medical exam with the Corona Police Department.

Background investigation will include but is not limited to the following: No felony conviction(s). Submit to a fingerprint and criminal history check - State and Federal Bureaus. Good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation. United States high school graduate, GED, or equivalent. No conviction(s) of a serious offense, or numerous convictions of minor offenses. Submit to a polygraph examination. Successfully pass a medical examination. THE ORGANIZATION

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policymaking and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members.

Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term.

The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.

The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2024 is $ 369.9 million with a General Fund operating budget of $ 194.5 million.
