Job Title: Case Coordinator

Job Summary:

CASES is currently seeking a Case Coordinator for our Bronx Pretrial Services team. Rapidly after release into the Supervised Release Program (SRP), the Case Coordinator conducts Supervision Introduction/Orientation meetings with new participants to review supervision conditions required under the supervision plan. In this role, you will help participants comply with their supervision appointments and court appearances during their legal case's pendency. You will also conduct ongoing service need assessments with participants and develop collaborative service plans addressing identified needs and goals. You will ensure participants receive services that are strengths-based, gender-specific, and culturally sensitive while adhering to the core principles of risk, need and responsivity to reduce recidivism, increase engagement in community treatment services and support participants to achieve their self-identified goals for treatment, recovery, rehabilitation, and crime-free community integration.


Salary: The salary for the role is $56,000 per year.


Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.


Location Address: 424 East 147th Street Bronx, New York 10455.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Provide supervision and community-based services to a caseload of pretrial participants.
  • Conduct supervision rapidly (within 24-48 hours of release).
  • Conduct introduction/orientation meetings with new participants to review supervision conditions, reporting schedules (as assigned by level of recidivism risk), and mandatory methods of communication (face-to-face, telephone, and texts) required under the participant’s supervision plan.
  • Collaborate with the court and other pretrial staff team to facilitate participants’ successful completion of mandated supervision appointments and court appearances during their legal case.
  • Review legal and court screening documentation, analyzing participants’ offending behavior patterns, identifying needed behavioral changes, and implementing supports to reduce the likelihood of pretrial arrests.

  • Provide all services in a gender-responsive, trauma-informed way and adheres to the core principles of risk-need-responsivity.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with community providers, including supported housing, Health Homes, care management programs, addiction treatment and mental health providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Follow program community-based monitoring protocols for high risk and high-need participants, and request/participate in case reviews to address complex cases.
  • Enter assessment, supervision appointment reporting, progress note documentation into program database, conduct all electronic charting activities and reporting in compliance with confidentiality regulations and in a timely manner.
  • Meet monthly case management contact and outreach goals as established by supervisory staff.
  • Conduct service needs assessments with participants to evaluate psychosocial needs and problems, including the severity of mental health and substance use disorders, factors affecting participation and engagement in supervision and treatment.
  • Link participants and navigate them through treatment based on eligibility, preferences and needs.
  • Ensure timely execution of community outreach and case management activities to meet program objectives.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques and motivational interviewing to engage participants in change as part of pretrial supervision and case management.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in human services with individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders and involvement in the criminal justice system.
  • Extensive knowledge of community treatment, support services and resources
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, court processes and alternative to detention/incarceration services

Preferred by not required:

  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Experience using databases such as Salesforce
