Medical Records Clerk/Medical Billing
Job Description
The Medical Records Clerk/Medical Billing Clerk must have excellent understanding on Insurance Company Claim websites, working with EOB, denials and appeals. Will be responsible for collecting patient information for requested medical record requests.
Shift and Hours
Full time
Monday thru Friday
8am-5pm
Schedules, including days of the week, are subject to change based on shift and our customer needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to communicate effectively, and professionally with patients, clients and CCHS staff, verbally in person, or by phone, email, and fax.
- Must provide exceptional and professional customer service skills.
- Including but not Limited to- faxing, scanning, uploading, or emailing medical records request, appeal request, talking with patients regarding their insurance denial, invoices, etc)
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and work cohesively as a team with the laboratory billing company, Laboratory Manager, and Client Services Assistant.
- Must exhibit good organizational skills.
- Must be able to multitask and detail oriented.
- Accurate computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office
- Handle paper correspondence that come from Insurance Companies. (Medical records request, denials, EOB’s, Payments, appeals, etc)
- Keep all medical records and billing records confidential/abide by all HIPPA laws and regulations.
- Other administrative duties, including answering phones, responding to emails, copying, filing, fax, mis computer work and mailings.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous Medical Office experience preferred.
- Must be able to legally work in the United States
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of HIPPA compliance testing and certification
- Ability to work agreed upon schedule.
- Must be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Maintain professionalism always while working with clients, and their points of contact.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work with hands, see and hear.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to type & look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Conditions of Employment
- Contingent upon a favorable pre-employment drug screen
- Contingent upon a favorable driving record and background check
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment
Medical Records Clerk will work at the HunterCare Health office and will work in coordination with the offsite billing company, on site Laboratory Manager, and Client Services Assistant.
