Position Summary: As a mechanical engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and dynamic engineering environment. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to solve technical challenges, analyze data, and contribute to project planning and execution.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducting research and analysis to support engineering projects
- Assisting in the creation of detailed engineering drawings and specifications
- Participating in design reviews and brainstorming sessions
- Conducting tests and experiments to evaluate the performance of mechanical systems
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met
- Communicating findings and recommendations to team members and stakeholders
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts
Requirements: The ideal candidate will be a current college student pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team are essential. Previous internships or project experience in mechanical engineering is a plus. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to develop technical skills and industry knowledge in a real-world setting. internships are 10-12 weeks in length
A solid technical background through related coursework and work experience.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Vision, MS PowerPoint, CAD modeling, and drafting.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, planning, machining, welding, and heat treatment.
- Reliable transportation, good attendance, and the ability to follow directions.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Quick adaptability and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong understanding of manufacturing principles and practices.
- Data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work dynamically.
- A commitment to safety standards and regulations
- Prefer candidates with a background in lean and process optimization.
Must be able to complete an internship next semester at our Hamilton, IN location.
