Purpose

In compliance with all state statutes and regulating bodies, in accordance with Noble Policy and Procedure and within the scope of training and skill level, assess, diagnose, counsel, and provide psychotherapeutic and Substance Abuse treatment, rehabilitation, and care coordination for children, adolescents, and adults (individual, family, group); provides clinical supervision, focus on professional development of staff, support CBHO in clinical administrative duties, provide educational services to providers and staff, community agencies, and the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and

Responsibilities

  • Therapeutic intervention for Individuals, couples, and/ or family consultation with patients, (In-person and via Telehealth) including:
    1. Functional and strength-based biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis;
    2. Psychoeducation for patients and their support systems;
    3. Medication adherence counseling and disease self-management counseling;
    4. Motivational Interviewing to develop behavioral strategies aimed at symptom reduction
    5. Cognitive behavioral intervention aimed at modifying negative thinking and promoting self-efficacy;
    6. Trauma informed care approach;
    7. Develop and monitor person-centered treatment plans that utilize SMART goals;
    8. Self-Care Plan development and skills training to facilitate disease self-management, improved coping, distress tolerance, stress reduction, and relaxation; and
    9. Substance use disorder evaluation, identification of maladaptive coping strategies, and development of harm reduction strategies.
  • Interviews potential patients to assess needs for mental health and/or substance abuse services or referral elsewhere; counsels or provides psychotherapeutic and rehabilitation services for individuals, couples, or members of a family to assist them in achieving productive social adjustments, reducing the impact of disabling disorders, and facilitating their achievement of living, vocational, recreational, and interpersonal goals.
  • Operate at a 70/30 ratio-with 70% of duties are direct clinical care and 30% of duties are clinical supervision as well as operational/administrative/management duties assigned by the CBHO.
  • Documents clinical activity, supervisory activity, presenting diagnostic and interview findings, clinical evaluations, and recommendations; as a member of an interdisciplinary team, reviews diagnosis and treatment plans of clinic staff; and may act as a case manager by coordinating services for patients to assure continuity of care and to assure that patients receive appropriate types of service.
  • Plan and administer therapeutic treatment, behavior modification, and stress management therapy to assist patients in developing/displaying appropriate behaviors.
  • Conduct individual, couples, family, and group therapy.
  • Confer with and advise patients’ relatives to secure their understanding of and cooperation in treatment and rehabilitation programs.
  • Cooperate, advise, and work with other Noble staff and outside agencies/practitioners regarding mutual patients.
  • Consult external community providers concerning treatment plans and for coordination of care, as required.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding their diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and rehabilitation process.
  • Manage the care of patients by assessing and referring them to public and private providers and monitoring their progress.
  • Provide crisis counseling for individuals experiencing acute episodes; evaluates patients and arranges for voluntary or involuntary admission to facilities for observation and treatment.
  • Assist patients to obtain stable housing, food security, physical health care, benefits, transportation, and other enabling services to enhance social determinants of health and improve overall health outcomes.
  • Maintain regular contact with other agencies and professionals regarding patient progress in the therapeutic treatment milieu through phone calls, letters, and/or monthly reporting, as well as documenting within the EHR System (EPIC).
  • Maintain electronic case records that are in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and other federal and state regulations.
  • Attend mandatory weekly clinical team meetings and monthly all staff BH meeting.
  • Act as a Behavioral Health Clinical Supervisor, provide training, in-services, and supervision to Behavioral Health staff.
  • Works with the CBHO to ensure adequate supervision during staffing meetings.
  • Responsible for clinical staff oversight per DHS 75.50, including clinical supervision and compliance as defined by DHS rules.
  • Conduct monthly chart reviews and provide correction plans to the clinicians on deficiencies.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and code of conduct in performing all job duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Min. Qualifications

  • Ability to perform effective counseling and psychotherapy with individuals, families, and groups; develop and maintain cooperative relationships with patients’ families, members of other professional disciplines, social agencies, and co-workers; relate professionally with persons with serious mental disorders; identify and utilize community resources; advise and train other mental health staff; and prepare and present clear and concise oral and written reports.
  • Provide cognitive and behavioral interventions to individuals, families, couples, and groups with behavioral health/substance abuse problems.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure and possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a strong knowledgebase of DHS 75.50 regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, other staff members, other community service and treatment organizations and the general public, while respecting patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain a valid state of Wisconsin Driver’s License, as well as the ability to pass the requirements to complete the minimum requirements to operate a company vehicle.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with patients, substance use disorder counselors and other behavioral health clinicians.
  • Demonstrate ability in managing stress and crisis situations.
  • Ability to relate to people in an unprejudiced and understanding manner with concern for their circumstances and feelings.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports and to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including knowledge using EHR system.
  • Ability to participate in and appropriately utilize available weekly supervision.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

Physical Demands

  • Work may require sitting or standing for long periods of time; also stooping, bending, and stretching.
  • Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing less than 50 pounds.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier, and other such equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office/clinic setting or via telehealth and may also be community based as needed.
  • Involves frequent contact with people.
  • Interactions with others are frequent and interruptive. Work may be stressful at times.
  • Work schedules may be changed to accommodate departmental/facility needs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet.

Education, License, and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage, and family therapy (required).
  • Licensed as an ICS (preferred) or eligible for ICS and hold an active LPC or LCSW for 5 years (required).
  • Experience in clinical supervision, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, counseling, and psychotherapeutic treatment of AODA, psychology, marriage, family, and child relationship dysfunctions; methods of developing and implementing a treatment plan; current trends in the field of mental health and substance use disorders; laws and regulations applicable to mental health; and basic math.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in people management and building a positive work environment, including coaching, mentoring, developing, recognizing, and engaging team members.
  • Applicants must possess WI state licensure in their profession at the time of application or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
