Job purpose:

Act as Facility Maintenance Specialist in completing assignments to include but not limited to maintain group homes, day programs and sites and operating facilities to comply with all standards, complete simple repairs and renovations within facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On finding or being notified of emergency or unusual conditions take prompt action or innovative and appropriate action as necessary.
  • Work with outside Contractors as assigned to coordinate repairs.
  • Receive direct supervision from the Facility Manager. Most of the daily operation of job must be coordinated without direct supervision.
  • Pickup and delivery of supplies needed for repairs.
  • May be required to provide supervisor with daily work performance reports.
  • Prepare all requisitions for purchase of materials with prior authorization.
  • Perform work in a logical, orderly and skillful manner.
  • Be adaptable to changes in the assignment process.
  • Maintain all daily work reports as required.
  • Operate equipment and tools/maintain inventory of same.
  • Provide inspections of safety related items monthly.
  • Repair, build or alter existing facilities as required.
  • Perform minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting as required.
  • Distribute and utilize equipment and work materials which frequently include lifting, pushing, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with background in maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • You are required to be in possession of a car on site during your entire shift to transport yourself and/or individuals served to community sites in all weather conditions and throughout all neighborhoods.
  • Depending upon assignment, must be able to work in a variety of settings, weather conditions and locations.
  • Must provide own tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office and the internet.
  • Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Work independently; utilize good judgment and possess a strong sense of initiative.
  • Use a calculator, provide written reports, and communicate with group home staff and contractors.

Physical Requirements:

  • Move and lift weights up to 75 lbs. on an occasional basis, climb ladders and all other physical requirements needed to maintain facilities.
