DBT-PTSD Specialists is a premier outpatient private practice with two locations in the Minneapolis suburbs. We are seeking Student Interns to join our outstanding team at our office in Plymouth, MN.

At DBT-PTSD Specialists, our therapists and staff strive to help clients find the answers within them while providing a comfortable environment for discovering and developing practical skills for lasting change. Our state-certified program pursues a DBT training curriculum tailored to each client's unique needs, allowing them to learn dynamically through our creative and interactive techniques. Our DBT programs have proven effective for those experiencing Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depression, Panic, Anxiety Disorders, and Complex PTSD, including those who are at high risk for suicide or self-destructive behaviors.

Requirements:

  • Will accumulate at least 700 total hours for LPCC, 450 total hours for MSW and 700 for MFT track. For LPCC, 240-300 are direct client contact hours.
  • The number of client contact hours must meet the expectations of your school’s requirements as indicated in your practicum/learning agreement.
  • Will be on-site at the clinic at least 17-20 hours per week.
  • Will continue participating in practicum hours on-site until the end of the final semester or the “end date” that was agreed upon, whichever is later, even if I have acquired 700 total and the required client contact hours.
  • Will attend on-site 1:1 supervision once weekly and follow up on feedback or tasks assigned in supervision promptly.
  • Will attend and participate in a 1.5-hour DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) Consultation meeting once a week.
  • Will build and maintain 8-10 client contact hours per week. This will include building up to 6 DBT clients and staying on at least one DBT group throughout my practicum.
  • Learning as a participant in DBT; includes participating in the group and doing the group homework.
  • Development of DBT Diary Card and Target Behaviors
  • Shadowing individual sessions with clinical supervisor/other clinicians
  • Learn and write Progress Note | Treatment Plan | Diagnostic Assessment Training
  • Shadowing Intakes and learning the Intake process
  • Positive communication with the Management team regarding needs for assistance or support.
  • Agree to participate in community outreach opportunities for the clinic, which will count as client contact hours.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
  • Generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, clients, referral sources, the general community, and others pertinent to the business.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and OSHA laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated skill and proficiency with Windows-based computer applications (specifically Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel Software) and other industry-related software and office equipment.
  • Ability to listen and communicate fluently and diplomatically, orally and in writing in the English language; also, to maintain excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships while participating in sectional and cross-functional groups and teams involving management, staff, and clients.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow through on client activities with time constraints and interruptions.
  • Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, maintain a sense of humor, and regularly present a well-groomed, professional image.
  • Ability to exhibit desirable and appropriate behavior, including integrity, persistence, sense of urgency, confidentiality, and independent judgment to provide a cohesive working environment dedicated to achieving the organization’s goals.

  • Undergraduate diploma within one year of graduation in master's Level program for CCMH (counseling & clinical mental health) for LPC | LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) and MSW (Master of Social Work program) for LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker)
