About the Role:
Gen3 seeks a Privacy and Security Compliance Leader to play a key role in supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in achieving its privacy compliance goals aligned with PCSS Privacy Compliance Sustainment Support. This refers to the various initiatives, policies, and practices implemented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure the privacy and security of veterans' personal information and health records. This position will be responsible for managing large-scale privacy compliance programs, ensuring compliance with federal privacy regulations, and providing thought leadership on privacy and cybersecurity matters.Location: Remote, US.
What You'll Do:
  • Privacy Act Functions Implementation Support: Oversee the implementation of Privacy Act requirements, including the development and maintenance of SORN and CMA programs, ensuring compliance with VA and federal privacy regulations.
  • Privacy Controls and Overlays Compliance Program: Support the enhancement and execution of the Privacy Controls and Overlays Compliance Program. Develop and maintain an Implementation Plan, provide internal program support, and develop Privacy Control Implementation Guidance.
  • Enterprise Social Security Number Reduction (ESSNR) Support: Maintain and enhance the VA ESSNR Strategy and Roadmap, support the development and tracking of the VA ESSNR Action Plan, and develop ESSNR Federal Reports.
  • Privacy Continuous Monitoring Support: Develop and maintain the Privacy Continuous Monitoring (PCM) Strategy, including guidance procedures, tools, templates, and program implementation activities.
  • Remediation of Privacy Audit Findings Experience: Lead efforts to remediate privacy audit findings, demonstrating a strong commitment to resolving existing issues. Provide case studies or client references showcasing successful resolutions of privacy issues.
  • Privacy by Design Experience: Embed privacy considerations into the framework of large-scale federal projects. Provide project summaries or white papers detailing the approach and results of implementing Privacy by Design principles.
  • Artificial Intelligence Guidance: Integrate cutting-edge AI solutions, stay ahead in technology advancements, and provide guidance on AI-related privacy controls. Share case studies of AI projects and memberships in AI research groups.
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing privacy compliance programs for large-scale federal organizations.
  • Strong understanding of federal privacy laws, including FISMA, HIPAA, and the Privacy Act of 1974.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing privacy compliance strategies and programs.
  • Excellent project management skills, including developing and managing project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Proficiency in using project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, Power BI, and Tableau.
What's Desired to Have:
  • Previous experience supporting VA or other Cabinet-level federal agencies.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar certifications.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 and other NIST guidelines related to privacy and security controls.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to industry thought leadership by publishing reports, leading webinars, and presenting at major conferences such as RSA Conference, Black Hat, or IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy.
  • Proven ability to leverage established networks and resources within the industry by maintaining partnerships or collaborations with recognized groups like the Data & Marketing Association (DMA), TechAmerica, or Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).
  • Holds an active membership and participates in events and initiatives organized by IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) or ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association), ensuring adherence to industry best practices in privacy and information systems auditing.
