Position Purpose:

The Scheduler/Planner will oversee the short- and long-term planning and scheduling of the maintenance activities for the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Wastewater Pump Stations under the scope of Veolia that are included in the operation and maintenance of the New Bedford, MA Wastewater Infrastructure. The Scheduler/Planner works in close coordination with the Maintenance Manager / Assistant Project Manager, Maintenance Supervisors and Operations Manager in developing work plans, prioritizing work and setting schedules. The Scheduler/Planner will also have primary responsibility for maintaining the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and Asset Management software applications (CMMS/AM) and associated database for all fixed assets; create, revise and close maintenance work orders; track history of repairs of equipment and determine timing for replacement. Scheduler/Planner will create, and revise as needed a preventive maintenance schedule consistent with program objectives and management instructions. Scheduler/Planner will provide analytics and reports on preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure maintenance staff is completing repairs timely and accurately and to communicate maintenance activities for client and regulatory reporting. The scheduler planner will also participate in communicating with vendors to coordinate, receive quotes and pricing for materials and projects, and assist in writing scopes for purchases at the project.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for short- and long-term planning, scheduling and coordinating all aspects of maintenance work to be performed at the Wastewater Treatment Facility and all remote pump stations.
  • Improve workforce productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of all available resources including staff manpower, contractors, materials and equipment.
  • Collect and analyze field activity and equipment history data and evaluate for trends.
  • Review, recommend and implement maintenance procedures and quality control measures for operational, maintenance, and utility staff.
  • Discuss daily activities and backlog with supervisors to ensure work is scheduled appropriately and executed successfully.
  • Participate in regular supervisor meetings to coordinate / plan in coordination with other departments.
  • Utilize planning tools to optimize planning and resource use. Monitor and report KPIs to track planning and work completion performance.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the asset registry and records in the asset management system.
  • Responsible for monitoring execution of and recording regulatory/contract compliance work in the CMMS/Asset Management system and reporting status to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Responsible for driving best practices to ensure information is being included in the closure of work orders.
  • Lead weekly Planning and KPI review meetings with the maintenance team.
  • Develop and Produce reports for various management teams within the project.
  • WIll assist in the procurement process for scheduling, including requisitions, purchase orders, developing project/equipment scopes, soliciting quotes and all associated procurement functions.
  • Track and chart overtime work by employee and by trade. Assist in posting overtime opportunities for maintenance mechanics and utility workers in compliance with the CBA.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 1 – 2 years related CMMS planning work in maintenance.
  • 5+ years similar treatment plant maintenance experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to speak to give direction and converse with other officials.
  • Must be able to read complex reports; write detailed reports and prepare presentations; analyze complex operational challenges and resolve the same.
  • Strong analytical, statistical and data management.
  • Proficiency with asset management/maintenance management (CMMS) programs, including procurement and purchasing functions such as requisitioning, inventory, equipment and work order management.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of asset management and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater system operations.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, database (SQL), Google Workspace, programming and other software used in plant operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, safety standards and work practices in the wastewater industry.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Valid DOT Medical Card.
  • MA Grade 3A Hoisting License.
  • MA Grade 1D Hoisting License (General Industrial Warehouse Forklift).
  • MA Grade 1B Hoisting License (Equipment with telescoping boom with wire ropes) preferred.
  • NEWEA Voluntary Collections Systems Grade 4 preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking on uneven terrain; climbing hills and stairs; moderate lifting up to 25 pounds; sit for long periods at a time.
  • Must be able to see clearly and hear warning devices and alarms.
  • Viewing of computer screen, use of computer and mouse.
