Position Summary:

This position ensures operational excellence and environmental safety standards, effectively overseeing multiple transfer stations and/or Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). This position ensures that each facility meets or exceeds objectives and successfully implements company initiatives. Additionally, it is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance of site managers (direct reports).

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an area of responsibility operating plan consistent with company objectives, enhancing effectiveness and delineating responsibilities and authority.
  • Develop direct reports and consistently evaluate performance by providing constant feedback.
  • Coaches managers on the execution of programs and, when necessary, provide direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans.
  • Develop operating budgets with peers and the Director, forecasting labor, equipment, and capital spending. Work closely with peers and the Director to evaluate new systems and equipment and deliver purchase recommendations.
  • Oversees the permitting and ongoing construction for any facility within the operating area, including resolving any permit issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local city, municipal, county, and state agencies to improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct Supervision of site managers in assigned regions and 50+ indirect reports.

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated success in a process-oriented culture focused on best practices and continuously improving operational results.
  • Experience in a leadership position involving operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and people operations.
  • Experience implementing safety OSHA programs and equipment specifications.

Hiring Requirements/Preferences:

  • A demonstrated knowledge of recycling operations management gained through a minimum of 5 years of related waste industry experience, emphasizing recycling systems, processing and manufacturing systems, and/or recycling materials marketing.
  • Valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance
  • Ability to travel
