Job Description for an Athletic Trainer in Care Management:Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Assessment and Care Planning:

    • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical conditions, focusing on musculoskeletal injuries, physical fitness, and overall health.
    • Develop individualized care plans that address injury prevention, rehabilitation, and wellness goals in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  2. Injury Prevention and Education:

    • Design and implement injury prevention programs for patients, particularly those involved in sports or physical activities.
    • Educate patients on proper techniques, body mechanics, and safety practices to prevent injuries.
    • Provide guidance on nutrition, conditioning, and lifestyle habits that support overall health and physical performance.

  6. Support for Sports Teams and Active Populations:

    • Work with athletic teams, schools, or community organizations to provide on-site care, injury evaluation, and emergency response during events or practices.
    • Develop and implement conditioning programs tailored to the specific needs of athletes or active individuals.
  7. Health and Wellness Promotion:

    • Promote overall health and wellness through community outreach, workshops, and wellness programs.
    • Advocate for healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of regular physical activity.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certification: Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Licensure: State licensure where applicable.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in athletic training, kinesiology, or a related field; a master's degree may be preferred or required by some employers.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to assess injuries, develop treatment plans, and adapt strategies based on patient progress.
