Pay Range:         $22 - $26 Hourly

Office Hours:    Mondays-Fridays 8:30 am-5:00 pm

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Temporary Maintenance Custodian to join our team at our transitional residential treatment program. The Temporary Maintenance Custodian will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our facility, contributing directly to the well-being and comfort of our residents.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing common areas, resident rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and repair issues.
  • Address maintenance requests promptly and efficiently, including repairing or replacing fixtures, equipment, and furniture.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Assist with basic landscaping and outdoor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Safely operate agency vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, and personnel between locations or for maintenance and facility management errands.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to coordinate larger maintenance projects and renovations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations outside of regular working hours as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience required. Prior experience in a residential program or similar setting is preferred.
  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by California Code, Welfare and Institutions Code - WIC § 5405, federal contractor requirements and/or agency practices.
  • Must pass post-offer, pre-employment physical, and TB clearance as required by state community care licensing standards.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are essential job requirements.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and screenings as required for employment in a behavioral health facility.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of residents and staff members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software applications.

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Stamina and endurance to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Physical dexterity and coordination to operate cleaning equipment and perform maintenance tasks. Agility and flexibility to maneuver in tight spaces and navigate around obstacles. Visual acuity and depth perception to identify safety hazards and maintenance issues. Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and outdoor elements. Physical strength and coordination to safely use ladders, tools, and other equipment. Stamina and resilience to perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
