Job Scope:

The Japanese Parts Planner is responsible for executing and coordinating procurement of components from international & domestic suppliers. The person is responsible for ensuring sufficient inventory to meet production requirements while building relationships with external suppliers to become knowledgeable of their capabilities.

Job Functions:

  • Proactively monitor overall Master Production Schedules, balancing current and future orders to achieve the inventory level plan
  • Evaluation of risk & development of material simulations
  • Update and track daily inventory
  • Planning and implementation of build out and new model material planning
  • Order parts weekly, biweekly, and/ or every quarter depending on supplier terms
  • Communicate with vendors on any order discrepancies and changes in demand
  • Expedite parts when necessary and track expedited orders
  • Other related duties as required

Accountabilities:

  1. Ensure desired inventory levels are achieved to support daily production requirements
  2. Maintain communication and relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery
  3. Report any inventory discrepancies that could impact production to management to an appropriate resolution
  4. Ensure prompt communication of schedule changes throughout operations

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Supply Chain or related discipline required
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a role relating to Planning, Supply Chain, or related field
  3. Must be able to communicate in both written and spoken fluent Japanese.
  4. Proven ability and history of driving change with a self-starter mentality
  5. Intermediate analytical abilities including effective written and verbal communication skills that influence decisions being made
  6. Good relationship building skills
  7. Computer skills - Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  8. Experience with ordering systems
  9. Ability to interpret BOMs
  10. Strong drive to investigate issues and demonstrated problem solving abilities.
