OPPORTUNITY SNAPSHOT:

The Estimator I, will be responsible for the creation of Bills of Materials and Bills of Operations. With the goal of creating a comprehensive cost for incoming project opportunities. Taking the information from the opportunity owner, the Estimator I will assist in defining, developing, and transmitting production costs to support the activities of existing and growing sales. This may include but is not limited to product-based sales (portfolio of SKUs), or “mass-craft” project work.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Attends initial project engagement meetings as needed (lead by Account Executive or Project Manager) to assist with scope questions and development. This shall include, but not be limited to assessing customer intent, such as customer’s operational use/interface with product, form/fit/function requirements, and non-negotiable vs negotiable scope modifications.
  • Collaborates with Sourcing and/or Purchasing Teams to communicate material costs and availability.
    • Investigate new or existing suppliers, materials, and manufacturing processes that could provide solutions.
  • Participates in engineering, design, and the whole development process.
    • Research, investigate, and understand product criteria, functions, requirements, and cost targets (customer criteria, performance requirements, build objectives, manufacturability, assembly, quality, artisanship, service, and installation).
  1. Apply problem-solving skills and execute solutions to problems independently, and in collaboration with other team members.
  2. Collaborate with Designers to understand and implement the design vision and design objectives of products.
  • Works closely with the Operations Team
    • Work directly with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, and suppliers to refine product designs to optimize tooling and equipment, manufacturing processes, assembly, and reliability.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Holder of degree or higher diploma in Engineering/BS or equivalent discipline.
  • 1-3 years’ related experience in estimating / product development or related, is preferred.
  • Experience in sourcing and comfortable to work with both factory and supply chain.
  • Knowledge on materiality like wood, metal, upholstery, etc.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, basic SolidWorks knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Work, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-oriented with a strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently & intellectually curious with an understanding of general business.
  • This position requires moderate travel (quarterly).
  • Effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with people at various levels, including Production, Engineering, and Management, and the ability to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering expertise to solving problems.
  • Strong desire to learn and maintain a professional curiosity to improve on all processes.
  • Relentless positive attitude and willingness to help.
