ROLE
We are seeking an Information Technology (IT) Assistant for the Department of Justice (DOJ), United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) Southern District of Georgia (SDGA). The mission of the United States Attorneys is to serve as the nation's principal litigators under the direction of the Attorney General. The IT Assistant will perform a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of IT systems within the USAO, SDGA. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of customer support services at the point of computer user/specialist interface
  • Provide installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training
  • Assist users with log-in procedures to the network and other network applications
  • Provide user training and assistance on various routine applications
  • Troubleshoot, recover, and resolve recurring software/hardware problems
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot commonly used hardware and software systems within the organization
  • Set up and relocate video conference equipment
  • Provide a wide variety of technical support services to coordinate teleconferences and distance learning activities
  • Develop reports that are on time, well-written, and effectively presented
  • Perform data analysis and reporting, including aggregating data into a format that is understandable
  • Perform server start-up and shutdown
  • Conduct system and workstation restoration
  • Provide access privileges to directories, files, and shared mailboxes
  • Support the administration of IT systems and network hardware/software capabilities
  • Coordinate with other IT staff to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems
  • Maintain IT inventory and ensure the proper functioning of all IT equipment
  • Utilize automated systems to produce reports and documents
  • Accurately creates and maintains database files
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years of college studies in Computer/Management Information Systems fields
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in administrative, professional, investigative, technical, or other responsible work related to a broad range of fields including, but not limited to, personnel management, funds management, management analysis, procurement, contract management, data processing, property management, space management, travel and transportation management, public information, office management, safety and security
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to use, understand and maintain directories, personnel lists and other guides
  • Skill in operating a computer terminal or personal computer, to produce documents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
