Job Summary

Responsible for:

Management and responsibility for the accounting and finance operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reporting and analysis, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).


Management

  • Daily management and oversight of the accounting and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage the accounting staff; report to the president and work closely with the fractional CFO.
  • Oversee the company's IT infrastructure and work closely with the outsourced IT services provider.

Job Duties

  • Accounting
    • Responsible for overseeing the month-end close process and the production of monthly financial reporting packages to various constituencies within the company.
    • Produce and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast to the President
    • Owns the oversight, structure, and maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts
    • Maintain a system of controls over all accounting transactions and activities
    • Oversee the accounting manager’s work to ensure that all accounting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Work with external CPA for all audit, tax compliance, and tax filings
  • Job Costing
    • Work closely with the Cost Accountant and the Materials and Engineering departments to ensure complete, timely, and accurate job costing.
    • Work closely with the Production department and Purchasing to track costs for each job as well as maintain acceptable inventory levels needed to support production.
    • Assist Sales and Production with the management of job costs to ensure target profit margins.
  • Process Improvement
    • Working in a rapidly growing company, the Controller will be required to participate in a large variety of process improvement projects – including document management, inventory, customer data, pricing, ERP implementation
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
    • Issue timely and complete financial statements, along with management reports
    • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management. Provide for a system of management cost reports
    • Provide financial analyses as needed for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • IT Management
    • Work closely with outsourced IT services providers to maintain the company’s IT infrastructure
    • Monitor and manage all software subscriptions and work with various department leaders on the evaluation and roll-out of various software applications used by the company
    • Understand basic cybersecurity topics and work with appropriate vendors to protect the company’s IT assets and IP
    • Participate on the ERP leadership committee and become an internal subject matter expert on the company’s ERP system (currently being selected). Drive adoption of the ERP and adapt current internal processes and workflows to the new ERP system.

Experience and knowledge

  • Extensive experience in a fast-growth manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of MRP, Kanban, and Min/Max inventory management processes, cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of procurement and purchasing processes
  • Experience with documenting workflows and process improvements
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (the company is in the process of evaluating future ERP needs)
  • Extensive experience in Excel modeling and other FP&A methodologies

Nature and Scope

· Ability to be a creative thinker in resolving situations and making decisions to solve unique situations as they arise in a high-growth manufacturing environment.

· Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to results expected. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.

· May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.

  • Manufacturing facility located in Cartersville, GA.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BS (Accounting) degree required
  • MS in accounting or MBA preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in accounting roles within a manufacturing environment

· Extensive job costing experience in a manufacturing environment

· Experience using ERP systems in a manufacturing environment such as ECi M1, JobBOSS, Sage 100, Plex, SAP, or NETSUITE.

· Must have advanced Excel skills
