Job Description:

U.S. Pipe Fabrication is seeking a Safety Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining company safety policies and continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health conditions to maintain a safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain US Pipe safety programs, policies and continuously monitor the workplace safety improvements.
  • Conduct or participate in safety training, safety meetings/huddles.
  • Conduct and facilitate effective incident investigations.
  • Assist the safety director with the worker’s compensation program and claims.
  • Lead, support, and participate with all safety committees at all shops
  • Travel to assigned shops monthly and conduct safety and housekeeping visits.
  • Perform safety walks throughout the shift and observe performance of job tasks to ensure safe job procedures are being followed.
  • Coach employees on safe job procedures when necessary.
  • Discuss recommendations and findings from safety walks with both Department Supervisor and Shop Manager.
  • Work with operations to ensure safety deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Lead safety portion of New Hire Orientation.
  • Lead periodic reviews of JSA’s, LOTO procedures, Hazard Analysis etc. within assigned shops.
  • Partner with Shop Managers to proactively be prepared for the annual EPIC safety Audit.
  • Implement and train on all existing and new safety training materials or programs.

Skills & Other Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in safety is preferred.
  • Safety experience in a heavy manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Current OSHA 30 or OSHA 10 Certified.
  • Certified and/or Trained in LOTOTO, Fall Protection, Forklift, Confined Space and other fundamental safety programs.
  • First Aid CPR certified.
  • Bilingual is a highly preferred skill (English and Spanish).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Travel to other states / locations 25% of the time.
  • Office 40% / Shop 60%.
  • Since this is a heavy industrial environment there will be exposure to Fabrication Shop operations.
  • The employee will be exposed from time to time to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing, Driving and Sitting.
  • When in the Shop Production Area ALL employees are required to wear PPE including (steel toed shoes if conducting any work-related activity), hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility wear, and hearing protection where required.
