The Safety and Security Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and protection of all guests, staff, and visitors at our establishment.

This position is tasked with safeguarding all assets of the hotel, enforcing security protocols in alignment with Sonesta International Hotels corporate standards, and ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the promise of exceptional service in every interaction with guests and clients, fostering a culture of customer service excellence among all hotel associates.
  • Conduct routine security operations, including fire safety inspections and preventative measures.
  • Investigate incidents such as thefts and accidents occurring on the premises.
  • Mitigate losses of property belonging to the hotel and its guests through proactive measures against theft and other criminal activities.
  • Maintain a secure and peaceful environment for both guests and staff.
  • Assist guests and colleagues with inquiries related to safety and security.
  • Address and resolve any complaints from guests and employees regarding safety and security issues.
  • Perform regular patrols of the facility, ensuring all doors and windows are secured during non-operational hours.
  • Monitor activities on-site to identify and prevent theft and other unlawful behaviors.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports related to incidents or accidents occurring within the hotel.
  • Promptly report any maintenance issues to the relevant departments for immediate attention.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to adhere to grooming standards set by the property.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, and run as needed throughout the shift.
  • Proficient in operating a vehicle safely under various weather conditions.
  • Understanding of and ability to execute safety and emergency protocols (e.g., fire emergencies, crowd management, severe weather responses).
  • Familiarity with emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, wheelchairs, respirators).
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and assist in emergency situations.
  • Capability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach as necessary.
  • Ability to push or pull approximately 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in diverse temperature conditions.
  • Proficient in using communication devices (e.g., telephones, radios).
  • Effective communication skills with guests and team members.
  • Ability to interact courteously and empathetically with guests and staff.
  • Strong reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to maintain direct public contact, demonstrating a high level of customer service through positive engagement.
