Job Summary:

As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be pivotal in driving engineering excellence through the coordination and management of engineering change requests, new product design, and tooling and automation development. You will oversee the full lifecycle of product development, from initial design and tooling modifications to sample preparation and validation. Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure seamless integration of new products and process improvements.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Engineering Change Requests (ECRs):
  • Review, analyze, and coordinate all engineering change requests.
  • Ensure changes are effectively communicated and integrated into existing systems.
  • Track and document progress, addressing any issues that arise during implementation.
  • Product Design and Development:
  • Design and develop new products and extensions, ensuring they meet customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with R&D and product management teams to define product requirements and objectives.
  • Utilize CAD software and other design tools to create detailed product designs and prototypes.
  • Tooling and Automation Coordination:
  • Work closely with tool shops for the creation and modification of mold tooling and hand tools.
  • Oversee the development and integration of automation equipment to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure tooling and automation solutions are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • Customer Sample Preparation:
  • Prepare and deliver customer samples for new products, ensuring they meet quality and performance criteria.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to arrange sample testing and evaluation.
  • Validation and Testing:
  • Develop and implement validation plans for new products and process changes.
  • Conduct and oversee testing to ensure products meet all required specifications and performance standards.
  • Analyze test results and make recommendations for improvements or modifications.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design changes, validation processes, and project progress.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and complies with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Liaise with external vendors and contractors to manage tooling and automation projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and other departments as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project development engineering, with a proven track record in product design, tooling, and automation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling design, and automation technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
