JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Installation Technician is responsible for installing IT related equipment in commercial, industrial, and office environments. This may consist of running and terminating data and voice cables, mounting and adjusting security cameras, door access systems, large displays, and associated technology. In addition, the installation technician will estimate the time and materials necessary to complete cabling or technology related projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation, termination, and testing of cables for voice, data, speakers, access control, cameras, and unified communication solutions ensuring a high-quality installation
  • Installing wireless networking equipment
  • Placing computers, monitors, printers, scanners, phones, and other equipment
  • Installation of Windows operating system and installation of various software
  • Troubleshooting of various technology and computer systems within reason
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manufacturer installation instructions
  • Ability to use technical manuals and interface with manufacturer’s technical support to troubleshoot problems
  • Assist off-site IT technicians in remote setup of systems
  • Travel to customer sites in company provided vehicle throughout service territory
  • Conduct professional interactions with customer personnel developing relationships and demonstrating systems; providing training as needed
  • Perform client walk-through on customer sites to document existing conditions
  • Load, transport, and unload tools, materials, and equipment in a safe manner
  • Operating boom and scissors lifts
  • Documenting the installation via pictures and notes
  • Monitoring stock levels and maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
  • Engage in continuous product training


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in low voltage cabling, security camera and access control repair and installation
  • Proficiency with routing, terminating and properly dressing cables
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and wiring methods for new and existing construction
  • Problem-solving skills to handle repairs and equipment issues during service calls
  • Ability to routinely lift, push, or pull packages of up to 60lbs
  • Ability to work under pressure, assess multiple demands and manage priorities
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team
  • Ability to work off a step ladder, extension ladder, scissor, or boom lift
  • Strong problem-solving and client service skills
  • Familiarity with state, city, town building standards
  • Familiarity with Axis, Milestone, Verkada and Polycom products is desirable, but not required
  • Familiarity with electric lock hardware installation
  • Basic understanding of computers and networking
  • Ability to take direction and eager to learn new skills
  • Commitment to abide by OSHA and all other safety standards and procedures
  • Willingness to train on company-specific technical equipment
  • Positive attitude, attention to details and sense of urgency in all work efforts
