The Tampa JCCs and Federation is the heart of a vibrant, harmonious and connected community

Essential Job Functions

The Director of Community Security will oversee all aspects of increasing and improving the level of

safety and security for all Jewish organizations and agencies in the Tampa/Hillsborough area who choose

to accept this assistance. This person will report to the Executive Director of Combating Antisemitsm,

and this is a full-time position. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Working in cooperation with the Director of Security, ensure the safety of our community

members, JCC members, guests, and employees at all locations and times. This is the highest

priority

• Being a new position for this community, creating and building trusting relationships with the

leadership and members of the various Jewish organizations and agencies is essential to

success in this position.

• Antisemitism is at the highest levels since the Holocaust. Your efforts should directly and

indirectly support all efforts of the Tampa JCCs and Federation to combat antisemitism. Your

duties may change and be reassigned as necessary.

• Assist organizations with the development and implementation of the emergency response plans

and help them keep them current

• Develop and roll out emergency preparedness training programs for outside organizations and

ensure that these programs are as effective as possible.

• Build and maintain a positive relationship with local law enforcement including the Tampa Police

Department, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the local FBI field office, and the JointTerrorism, Task Force, as well as any other law enforcement agencies that we may need to

interact with. All such efforts should be carefully coordinated with the Director of Security to

ensure we speak with one voice.

• Work with the Secure Community Network (SCN), and its representatives, to stay up to date with

the latest intelligence and utilize SCN resources to ensure the organization is taking full

advantage of what's offered.

• Serve as a resource for all Jewish organizations in the greater Tampa/Hillsborough County area.

• Play a leadership role, working with the Executive Director of Combating Antisemitism, in

applying for security grants at the local, state, and federal level.

• Work with the Director of Security to help supervise security at high profile, high risk, and/or high

attendance events, both on and off JCC properties, and help ensure proper security is in place for

all events.

• The Director of Community Security is expected to be on call 24/7 in case of emergency

situations arise. These are anticipated to be rare occurrences.

• And all other duties that may be assigned.

5. Must report for duty on time, and work until the end of the scheduled shift

7. Valid Florida Driver License

8. Any other duties as assigned by Director of Security and Emergency Management

Physical Requirements

1. Walking, sitting and standing for long periods of time.

2. Be able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time

3. Must be capable of working in confined space

4. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions typical for Florida

environment.

Reporting Relationships

Position reports directly to the Director of Strategic Initiatives.
