Job SummaryThis position is responsible for coordinating the administrative and operational security activities on a specific shift in a residential re-entry center. The successful candidate will effectively lead staff during assigned shifts to maintain adequate security coverage and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Security Operations: Read, understand, and comply with specific post orders written for the assigned post. Ensure that resident formal counts are conducted and report any suspected unauthorized activity or absence to the Security Manager or Facility Director.
- Leadership and Training: Directly lead Monitor staff and residents on the shift in the performance of their duties, evaluate their performance, and provide training as needed. Develop work schedules, monitor post assignments, and approve leave requests.
- Communication and Reporting: Maintain daily logs, phone, resident in/out, visitors in/out, and facility checks. Prepare staff logs, disciplinary reports, and other administrative reports using appropriate grammar.
- Inspections and Surveillance: Conduct inspections of all housing and general use areas to ensure that proper standards, facility operating procedures, and corporate guidelines of security, health, safety, sanitation, and welfare are maintained.
- Emergency Response: Remain alert at all times and react quickly, effectively, and calmly in emergency and other high-stress situations.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One (1) year as a Monitor I or two (2) years related experience in a similar field. Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.
- Skills: Ability to write legible reports in English in own handwriting, using correct grammar. Ability to plan, motivate, control, schedule, train, and react quickly and appropriately to emergency situations. Ability to work any assigned shift and work with computers and applicable software.
