Summary of Job Responsibilities:

This position will support the branch manager by supervising tellers/bankers and owning the activities of the branch. The Assistant Branch Manager is the Customer Champion for the bank by providing exceptional customer service through direct contact with customers and building strong relationship bankers. The position will have a thorough understanding of all customer transactions, will educate customers about the bank's sales and service delivery options and refer to the appropriate products and services to match the customer's need. This position will also effectively refer customers to the appropriate bank partner to address their needs.


Essential Duties:

  1. Demonstrates excellence in customer service and ensures customer service standards are integrated into the culture of the bank.
  2. Promotes employee engagement through coaching and training with the goal of leading a team of highly skilled personal bankers.
  3. Monitors tellers/bankers to ensure compliance with financial institution procedures and policies.
  4. Ability to recognize irregular or suspicious transactions and take appropriate steps to protect the customer and prevent loss to the bank.
  5. Ensures daily duties of front-line staff members are done timely and efficiently.
    1. Transactional/ATM/Recycler/Night Deposit balanced and processed daily.
    2. Assist in balancing of cash drawers.
    3. Quarterly surprise audits.
    4. Branch schedule complete/timecards approved.
    5. Order, ship, and receive vault cash and coin.
    6. Ensure dual control is followed and all branch audit logs are complete.
    7. Sign Cashier's checks within approved authority.
    8. Oversee branch training of tellers/bankers.
    9. Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed.
    10. Complete end-of-month reports.

Other Essential Job Duties:

  1. Accountable for complying with all Bank Secrecy Act and Anti Money Laundering regulations, Bank policies and procedures.
  2. Miscellaneous clerical duties.

Sales

A good understanding of the bank's products and services. Skilled at assessing the needs of the customer and building strong customer relationships utilizing the available products and services of the bank and making the appropriate business partner referrals.


Internal ambition and drive to match and/or exceed sales goals. An individual demonstrates a positive and helpful attitude towards internal and external customers, understanding their importance to the bank and how their job affects customers. Individual projects a positive and professional image in appearance and mannerisms.


Communication Skills

Individual writes clearly and professionally using proper grammar and spelling. Expresses self in speech so as to be clearly and completely understood and adheres to the bank's telephone standards. Supports a favorable environment for open communication, addresses concerns or problems in an open non-defensive manner and conveys self-confidence and knowledge in speaking to customers. Individuals utilize active listening skills by being attentive and transmitting correct information to the appropriate people, accepting constructive feedback.


Job Knowledge

Individual possess a thorough understanding of branch operations to assist in the daily functioning of branch. Individual is practical in applying knowledge and maintains expertise by keeping current with new developments and procedures. Individuals proactively engage in training and educational opportunities to grow and expand knowledge.


Problem Solving

Individual demonstrates the ability to define and offer solutions to resolve problems. Makes conscious effort to respond to and resolve conflict in the workplace.


Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is demonstrated in consistency of work quality and compliance with standards, requirements, and expectations. Tasks are performed carefully, accurately and in accordance with specific instructions.



Minimum Level of Performance and Training Normally Required:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent with additional IBA classes in Principles of Banking and Elementary Accounting I.
  2. Two years of progressively more responsible experience within a financial organization to gain the necessary experience and background knowledge to be an Assistant Branch Manager and deal effectively and efficiently with employees or other branch matters.
  3. Supervisory Workshop.
  4. Must meet and maintain the Bank's standards of performance.

Working Conditions:

  1. Minimum discomfort from noise, heat, dust, and other causes.
  2. Required to stand for periods of time when providing customer service.
  3. Exposed to potential robbery conditions. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the risk.
