Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering & Construction Specialist. As a Specialist, you will be responsible to work with the Engineering & Construction teams to drive projects and customer orders to completion and track progress along the way. This position plays a key role in project completions and ensuring all financial requirements are met and finalized. Additional duties include customer order management, damage claim processing, permit tracking and other technical engineering support duties as required. Project management skills are also and asset for this position as it requires the ability to be a strong communicator and ability to manage roadblocks with many cross functional teams including Supply, Procurement and Operations. The position will report to a Manager of Engineering & Construction.

As the Specialist, Engineering & Construction your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Customer Generated Service Orders through order tool
    • POTS, DSL, DS1, DS3, OC3
  • Driving on time delivery of customer generated service orders
    • Developing and maintaining project tracking
    • Alerting engineer/construction personnel of upcoming due dates
    • Utilizing various project management tools (MS Project, Smart sheets, Power Apps, etc.) 
  • Managing Joint Use Partnerships (joint use, joint ownership, foreign)
    • Billing accuracy
    • Transfer coordination
    • Pole replacement requests
  • Fiscal project responsibility
    • Project billing (vendor invoicing)
    • Actual Spend vs Budget Variance
    • Processing open purchase requisitions
    • Validating accounting Capital vs Expense
  • Project Completion
    • Ensuring all invoices are processed against the project
    • Validating the accuracy of Continuous Property Records from as-built
    • Aiding in material management through strong partnerships with Supply Chain
    • Validating material retirement accuracy
  • Project final posting project in engineering design tool
    • Comparing project as-built prints to engineering design prints
    • Updating build changes in engineering design tool
  • Providing engineering support
Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
  • Experience with Telcom Network Design systems (IQGeo, GIS, NDS, Fireworks/Bidmaster)
  • Ability to work in network facility & inventory systems.
  • Project Management experience
  • Highly organized and data driven.
  • Ability to work successfully in both a team environment and independently.
  • Skilled with Teams, MS SharePoint, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • 3+ years Telecommunications experience
  • Application specific experience
