This is a fully remote, full-time position.

As a Cloud Observability Engineer, you will design, develop, and deploy secure and scalable cloud-based infrastructure and applications. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure our cloud environment's security, stability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE):

  1. Develop and implement SRE frameworks, including crafting Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
  2. Monitor system health, ensuring high availability and performance, and respond promptly to incidents to minimize downtime.
  3. Assist in implementing monitoring solutions to ensure system health and to identify issues proactively.
  4. Participate in the incident response process, helping to restore services in case of outages and learning to manage system recoveries.
  5. Help in setting up monitoring systems using tools like NewRelic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk to ensure system stability and performance.
  6. Participate in developing alerting mechanisms to notify teams of potential issues proactively.
  7. Oversee Splunk ITSI platform.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop cohesive and innovative solutions.
  2. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation outlining system architecture, procedures, and best practices.
  3. Document procedures, configurations, and specifications, ensuring that knowledge is effectively shared across the team.
  4. Contribute to the maintenance of a knowledge base to facilitate continuous learning and team development.
  5. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and develop solutions accordingly.
  6. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team skills and expertise.
  7. Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including system designs, configurations, and procedures.

Professional Development:

  1. Continuously learn and keep up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in the cloud and DevOps space.
  2. Take part in internal and external training to develop the necessary skills and knowledge for career growth.
Qualifications:
  1. Educational Background:
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Certification Requirements:
    1. Certifications in cloud technologies like AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
    2. Certifications in container technologies such as Docker Certified Associate or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are highly desirable.
    3. Splunk certification.
  3. Experience:
    1. 3-5 years of hands-on experience with cloud computing, DevOps practices, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
    2. Proven experience in implementing and managing containerized environments.
  4. Skills:
    1. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
    2. Deep understanding of CI/CD tools and version control systems like Git.
    3. Expertise in implementing and managing container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
    4. Experience with New Relic.
    5. Experience with Amazon CloudWatch.
    6. Experience operating and configuring large multi-tenant Splunk clusters.
  5. Personal Attributes:
    1. Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
    2. Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
    3. A collaborative mindset, able to work effectively in team environments and contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices.
Additional Requirements:

  2. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment.
