Job Summary
The Pharmacy Billing Specialist will be responsible for processing and adjudication of prescription claims to third party payers in a high-volume setting. Resolution of denials through communication and coordination with PBMs, MHA, insurance providers, clients, and patients will be necessary to facilitate this process. The Pharmacy Billing Specialist will initiate prior authorizations and assist providers in submitting the necessary documentation for approval. They will also be responsible for periodic review and correction of claim submissions throughout the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Billing Specialist will play an integral role in the daily operations at Terrapin and will work with individuals in various departments within the pharmacy. The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient and able to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Main Responsibilities
ProcessingAdjudication (60%)
- Process prescription claims in a cycle fill paradigm
- Contact PBM's and insurance companies to resolve third party rejections, underpaid claims and pricing disputes
- Assist patients and care providers in resolving insurance issues
- Work with the Terrapin team to ensure timely processing and delivery of medications
Prior Authorizations (20%)
- Review PA denials and initiate the PA process through CoverMyMeds
- Communicate with patients and care providers regarding Prior Authorizations
- Monitor and track PA StatusApprovals
- Process approved claims for medications in daily pharmacy workflow
Claims Review (20%)
- Review processing reports to identify and resolve incorrectly billed/underpaid claims
- Identify and capture unbilled claims
- Query patient eligibility portals to identify missingincorrect patient insurance plans
- Add and manage 3rd party payers in the pharmacy system
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma Required
- Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician
- Preferred 2 years' experience with LTC pharmacy software (SuiteRxIPC preferred)
- Experience in data entry and pharmacy claims submissions
- Knowledge of the prior authorization process
- Basic knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Teams, and One Drive
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Great attention to detain and accuracy
- Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
