POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the bank's lending and collection team. Ensures that lending and collection operations are in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Strive to maximize the lending activities to generate quality loan volume for the profitability of the bank. Cultivate managers as leaders and instill the importance of excellent member service. To serve as a member of the Executive team whose responsibility is to guide the bank in becoming a profitable and well performing financial institution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1. Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Departmental planning.
  • Develop long and short-term goals in addition to strategy for the department as it relate to the bank's plans
  • Developing departmental policies and procedures as needed.
  • Understanding on mortgage secondary market underwriting guidelines.
  • Assure that the department executes established goals and having it align with the whole bank's strategic vision.
  • Knowledgeable of all current industry and economic trends.
2. Ensures the effective performance of departmental related services.
  • Ensures that lending and collection activities are conducted in accordance with established policy guidelines and standards, and are properly documented.
  • Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies assure that they are up to date and amended as needed.
  • Ensure that all department personnel receive proper education and training to better perform their work duties.
  • Being aware of new services and products that may be of value to our members.
  • Ensures that accounts are managed effectively to meet the needs of members.
3. Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of departmental functions.
  • Manages departmental expenses and pursue cost-saving measures when applicable.
  • Keeps Senior Management informed of departmental activities, progress of established objectives, and of any significant issues.
  • Completes required reports promptly, accurately, and within the compliance of bank's guidelines and policies. Also, maintain all departmental documents in accordance with the Credit Union records retention policy.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Ensures that adequate services and materials to support departmental activities.
4. Effectively supervises personnel, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Provides leadership to assigned personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts staff meetings as required. Assigns, directs, and coordinates work.
  • Arrange for department personnel training as it relates to their job duties and member services. Instructs personnel regarding policy, procedure, program changes and ensures that they understand the material presented.
  • Conducts performance appraisals as required. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate and human resources are effectively utilized. Conducts interviews and assists with hiring as needed.
5. Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relationships are established and maintained with members, vendors, the business community, and trade organizations.
  • Ensures that members are properly informed of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that requests, problems, and questions are promptly resolved.
  • Ensures that the Bank's professional reputation is maintained throughout lending and collection transactions with members.
6. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Stays informed regarding developments and changes in departmental services.
  • Cross-sells Credit Union services.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in finance/related field or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of Bank's loan products and applicable policies and standards. Understanding of government regulations and legal requirements involving lending, collections, insurance, and related functions.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 to 10 years of progressive lending experience in a credit union, bank or similar financial institution
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills. Good organizational, managerial, and problem-solving abilities.A high level of analytical skills. Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment.
