Job Description
Job Title: Chef
Main Function: Prepares and serves food according to established rules of etiquette in both casual and formal service environments, while maintaining the highest level of customer service
Reports to: Director of Food Service
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Employee will potentially work in the bistro as needed to allow Bistro server to receive breaks or cover vacations
- Creates new and follows existing recipes and guidelines to prepare and properly package food items
- Plan menus and assist in placing order for required ingredients
- Maintains the cleanliness of the, main kitchen, coolers, equipment, and floors; including putting away food deliveries
- At times may be required to fill in or work other shifts to ensure proper food service coverage
- Ensures proper safety and sanitation when working or cleaning up (wearing gloves, using the proper chemical or soap for what they are used for, always washing hands, etc.)
- Taking temperatures of the food and logging them in properly
- Wearing proper uniform to work (some items will be provided).
- Putting orders away properly and labeling them, dating, and rotating things properly
- Working the dinner line and properly cleaning the dinner line and turning all equipment off at end of shift
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education: High School graduate/ Ged
Experience: Food service and cooking experience required
Contacts: Daily contact with tenants, visitors, guests, and co-workers
Physical Demands: stands or walks nearly most of shift, able to move at a moderate pace. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when putting order away.
