What you’ll do:

This Full Time (or Part Time) Prevention Specialist will provide direct prevention services to communities, businesses, schools, and other target populations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Implement curriculum and facilitate groups/classes for prevention programs, to include services for youth, families, and communities (i.e. suicide prevention curriculum, peer leadership groups).
  2. Conduct school and community presentations on topics such as substance abuse prevention and suicide prevention.
  3. Ensure quality service delivery including punctuality, good preparation, and consistent communication with sponsors/coordinators of target populations.
  4. Assist with outcome studies to measure the effectiveness of services, projects, and programs being provided.
  5. Participate in community outreach activities and special projects to increase awareness of behavioral health issues, prevention and post-vention programs, and community services.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in all regularly scheduled administrative, in-service and Prevention staff meetings.
  2. Comply with the agency's standard of care for service delivery. Assist with Quality Management, Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.
  3. Participate in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.
  4. Provide and deliver 20-40 scheduled hours of services. As requested, attend meetings and trainings outside of regularly scheduled work hours. Evening and/or weekend hours may be required.


What you’ll provide:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelors or Masters degree preferred.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Previous prevention/behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License, with no major infractions in the past three years is required.
  • Must have a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of employment.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in crisis situations, work independently and cooperatively, recognize personal limitations, and relate positively and with empathy to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Maintain professional conduct consistent with ethical professional practice and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships with internal and external team members, stakeholders, and community and business partners.
  • If driving while on agency time or on agency business, a valid Arizona driver license and appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT - SPC’s liability insurance carrier is required. At time of hire, a 3-year state driving record with no major infractions or excessive driving violations/tickets is required.
