Who You Are:

The Assistant Controller will lead the daily operations of the accounting function. Reporting to the President, this role will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting, guiding the A/R and A/P processes, preparation and execution of month-end and year-end close, will help in navigating and managing the cash position, will assist with finalizing our transition to MS Business Central and for daily office oversight. This role is ideal for a high level individual contributor who is ready to make the next step in their career who will:

  • Use their bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field along with 5+ years of experience to ensure the accounting processes (accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting) are accurate and timely delivered according to GAAP, and to ensure compliance with governmental licenses/filings.
  • Assist and lead the daily operations of the office functions as well as the accounting department by overseeing the AP/AR processes by assisting in collections as needed and ensure payments have been made in a timely manner and holding the team accountable.
  • Assist with developing and implementing improved policies by setting up procedures and standards to guide the operation, with regard to finance, in an efficient manner.
  • Lead, coordinate and review the annual budgeting process and forecasts for each of our four locations along with tracking capital improvements, and investments.
  • Prepare all month-end financial documents and reporting and collaborate with the team to close each month, and present financial documents in the board meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Controller, CPA firm, and other leaders throughout the organization to complete the year-end close including inventory counts and reports, year-end financial documents, etc.
  • Complete all monthly and annual submittals for Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee sales tax, oversee the sales tax exemption forms process, and coordinate with the tax accountant to pay quarterly tax estimates.
  • Act as a backup for processing payroll and collaborate with other managers to ensure office operations and procedures are organized, correspondences are controlled, filing systems are designed, and supply requisitions are reviewed and approved.
