A Construction Project Supervisor with VS Engineering will work alongside Senior Leadership and Senior Project Managers to grow and lead our Construction Inspection Team across the State of Indiana. You will engage in all aspects of construction inspection tasks as well as marketing, business development and the growth of Construction Inspection across the company. Our growth means your growth. Our Indianapolis Office is the headquarters for VS Engineering and boasts our largest Transportation, Water Resources, and Structural teams. Our local staff includes a wide variety of experience levels with expertise in city, county, DOT and INDOT work projects for local cities, counties, and the State.
A Typical Day May Include
- Oversee/Perform daily inspection and observation of construction projects
- Writing proposals for potential projects
- Provide thorough and accurate documentation of daily inspection activities, including field verification measurements and calculations of work performed by contractors
- Communicate with construction contractors and client/owner representatives
- Participating and /or leading interviews for all open positions for your team
- Performing Contract negotiations
- Coordinating with other project managers to ensure goals are met
- Project work planning/daily project meetings
- Ongoing Mentoring and leadership development

What We’re Looking For
- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent or have passed all six parts of the INDOT Certified Technician Program exams
- 5+ years of experience in Construction Inspection for Heavy Civil and Transportation construction.
- Vast INDOT experience is required.
- Proficiency with INDOT’s Construction Records Application or SiteManager construction management software.
- IN PE is desired.
- Experience in Bridge and Highway construction projects with demonstrated knowledge of contractor means and methods.
- Demonstrated experience in QA/QC development and project implementation.
- Knowledge and understanding of project controls, including CPM scheduling, cost estimating, contract administration, and change order and claims analysis.
- Experience in Design Build projects, either with a Contractor or Consultant CM Team is a plus but not a requirement.
- Demonstrated skills in negotiating, coordinating and directing work of subcontractors, and in developing strong working relationships with general contractor personnel, subcontractors, inspectors, and other related parties.
- Proficient in use of SiteManager in daily work record and material entry
- Ability and willingness to apply supervisory instruction in field inspection tasks
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours, nightshift, and varying work schedules
